Bruce Abell, MD is an Assistant Professor of General Surgery and Trauma, and a Board Certified General Surgeon and Critical Care Intensivist who completed his medical training at The George Washington University Medical Center (GW) in 1992. He subsequently finished his General Surgery residency in 1997 followed by a Critical Care Fellowship from 1997-1998 at GW. After fellowship, Dr. Abell joined the surgical staff at GW. He presently serves as the Director of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care. He specializes in the laparoscopic management of complex ventral and inguinal hernias, abdominal wall reconstructions, and Breast Cancer. He is well respected in the metropolitan area for his overall care of the critically ill patient, and technical expertise. He has consistently been named one of Washington DC’s Top Doctors in Washingtonian Magazine.
